Tick Fever
Tick fever is a serious tick-borne disease caused by parasites and bacteria transmitted through tick bites. When infected ticks attach to a dog’s skin and feed on blood, harmful organisms can enter the bloodstream and affect multiple organs and body systems. If left untreated, tick fever can become life-threatening and lead to severe health complications.
Dogs suffering from tick fever may develop symptoms such as high fever, weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, swollen lymph nodes, pale gums, vomiting, diarrhea, joint pain, lethargy, and breathing difficulties. Some pets may also experience nose bleeding, blood in urine, or difficulty walking in advanced cases.
Ticks are commonly found in grassy areas, gardens, parks, and unhygienic surroundings, making outdoor pets more vulnerable to infection. Warm and humid weather conditions also increase the risk of tick infestations and related diseases.
At Shiva Pet Clinic, our veterinarians perform detailed physical examinations and advanced blood testing to accurately diagnose tick fever and determine the severity of the infection. Treatment usually includes medications, supportive therapy, hydration, and parasite control to help pets recover safely and comfortably.
Regular tick prevention, maintaining proper hygiene, routine grooming, and timely veterinary checkups are extremely important to protect pets from tick fever and other dangerous tick-borne diseases.
