Ear Tumors
Ear tumors are abnormal growths that can develop on the ear flap or inside the ear canal of dogs.
These growths may be benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous). While benign tumors usually grow slowly and remain localized, malignant tumors can spread to other parts of the body if left untreated.
Dogs with ear tumors may show symptoms such as:
- Persistent ear irritation or pain
- Head shaking and scratching
- Swelling or visible lumps
- Foul odor or discharge from the ear
- Hearing difficulties
- Balance problems in severe cases
Tumors growing inside the ear canal can block airflow and trap wax and debris, increasing the risk of recurring ear infections. In advanced cases, tumors may affect sensitive structures within the ear, including the eardrum and inner ear, which can impact hearing and balance.
At Shiva Pet Clinic, our veterinarians perform detailed examinations and may recommend diagnostic tests or biopsies to determine the type of tumor and the most appropriate treatment plan. Early diagnosis and timely treatment are important to protect your pet’s comfort, hearing, and overall health.
