Hepatitis
Hepatitis is a liver disorder that causes inflammation and damage to the liver tissues in dogs. The condition can develop due to bacterial or viral infections, toxins, certain medications, autoimmune disorders, or long-term liver stress. If left untreated, hepatitis can seriously affect liver function and overall health.
Dogs suffering from hepatitis may show symptoms such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, weight loss, lethargy, dehydration, and yellowing of the eyes or gums. In advanced cases, liver inflammation can lead to fluid buildup in the abdomen, bleeding disorders, and neurological complications.
Since the liver plays an important role in detoxification and digestion, any damage to this organ can affect multiple body systems. Early diagnosis and timely treatment are extremely important to prevent severe liver damage and long-term complications.
At Shiva Pet Clinic, our veterinarians perform detailed examinations and advanced diagnostic testing, including blood work and liver evaluations, to identify hepatitis and determine the most effective treatment plan. Treatment may include medications, liver-supportive therapy, dietary management, fluid therapy, and ongoing monitoring.
Regular health checkups, proper nutrition, vaccination, and avoiding exposure to harmful toxins can help reduce the risk of liver inflammation and support better liver health in pets.
