Lyme Disease

Lyme disease is a tick-borne bacterial infection that can seriously affect a dog’s joints, kidneys, nervous system, and overall health. The disease is transmitted through the bite of infected ticks and is more commonly seen in dogs exposed to grassy areas, parks, forests, and outdoor environments.

Dogs infected with Lyme disease may show symptoms such as fever, joint pain, swollen joints, limping, weakness, tiredness, loss of appetite, and reduced activity levels. Some pets may also develop kidney complications and chronic pain if the disease is not diagnosed and treated early.

In many cases, symptoms may appear gradually, making regular veterinary checkups and tick prevention extremely important. Early detection can help prevent severe complications and long-term health problems.

At Shiva Pet Clinic, our veterinarians perform proper diagnostic testing and detailed health evaluations to identify Lyme disease and provide effective treatment. Treatment usually includes antibiotics, supportive care, pain management, and parasite prevention to support recovery and improve your pet’s comfort.

Routine tick control, grooming, and avoiding heavy tick-infested areas can greatly reduce the risk of Lyme disease in pets.
